The web-based software “zelection”, for example, offered an innovative solution for publishers. It enabled end-users to pre-select topics they found relevant and wished to be informed about. Individually enhanced with advertising, the content could be delivered ad-hoc as a printed product, as a personalized electronic document or via SMS, RSS or Instant Messenger.
